I would appreciate hearing how other members allocate their real estate investments among types of real estate. We have always had a significant portion of our assets in real estate but have begun to change the proportion allocated to certain types. We have moved some of these assets from rental real estate to more farmland and have added timber. We have done this for diversification and to simplify management. How do members decide how to allocate their real estate investments? Do you believe diversification among types of real estate is important or do you consider all real estate equivalent?. Since real estate is a long term investment, do you sell because your allocation to real estate is too high or just put new investments towards other asset groups? How fo you prepare the next generation to manage the real estate?
